Portfolio Reviews
For many the very idea of having your work reviewed and “judged” by someone is intimidating and anxiety ridden. I know, I have been there myself. A good portfolio review is not about getting a grade on your work or assessing your value as a photographic artist.
A good portfolio review begins with establishing a clear goal for the review. Getting yourself and the reviewer on the same page in terms of what you want to get out of the review is essential to making the feedback valuable and actionable. If this is your first portfolio review and you are not sure what your goals should be, I will help you identify your strengths and provide some suggestions on ways to improve your images to achieve your photographic goals.
A portfolio is a well-organized collection of images with a coherent theme that ties them together in some meaningful way. It is not a group of your “best” or “favorite” images. If you are struggling with which images to select for a portfolio, we can focus our session on the process of building your first portfolio.
If you have a portfolio, you would like me to review, I suggest a collection of 10-15 images as a place to start. In addition to providing your objective of the review I ask that you provide the organized portfolio in digital or print form. To save us time and keep us focused, I ask that the portfolio of images be separated from the rest of your work so that I may easily flip back and forth through the images. Ideally, I like to review the portfolio at least a day prior to our review session to allow me to spend some time with your images to maximize the value of my feedback.
Portfolio review sessions can be conducted virtually or in person (may incur additional cost if I need to travel to meet you), depending on your preference, schedule and logistics.

Coaching and Mentoring
Growing and improving within a creative discipline is not unlike an athlete developing their mind and body to deliver their best athletic performance. Having a coach not only provides you access to their experience and knowledge, it provides structure and accountability to help you meet your goals.
Mentoring relationships are built around a regularly scheduled meeting time, often weekly or monthly. Our sessions will typically be held virtually. The length and content of those sessions will be driven by your goals and objectives. I will often give assignments to be completed prior to our next meeting where we will discuss your experience with the assignment and any completed work.
If you have a project idea that you are having trouble getting started or finishing, we can use our sessions as progress checkpoints to help you keep moving the project forward and provide a space for dialog should you need to make adjustments along the way.
Price: $50/session
