The Pacific Northwest is home to temperate rainforests. Like all rainforests it not only gets a great deal of precipitation, but nutrients are quickly absorbed int the living system. Here a young tree has taken root in the trunk of its fallen ancestor. The circle of life continues, from death comes new life.
