Sailing to the Edge of the World
Sailing to the Edge of the World
Every evening at sunset a crowd gathers in Mallory Square to watch the sunset. There is a carnival-like atmosphere with street performers and vendors of sorts, but the main attraction is the sun setting into the Gulf of Mexico. Several sunset cruise schooners ply the waters of Key West harbor, immersing tourists in the magical brew of starlight and saltwater. In January I captured one such schooner being chased by a dolphin in the clouds minutes before the sun dropped below the horizon (no green flash that day).
